Burritos de Moyahua Is Now Milagros de Dalila

Los Milagros de Dalila is the new name of the traditional Burritos de Moyahua, a restaurant serving burritos filled with guisados (home-style stews), located just outside Guadalajara on the highway to Chapala. Despite the new name and look, the food has the same great home-cooked flavor that has set it apart for years.

The Secret to a Great Burrito

The main dish here, and the one that has earned the restaurant regional and national recognition, is the burrito, made with flour tortillas prepared fresh every day in the restaurant’s kitchen. The tortillas are delicious on their own, and the fillings are just as good. Choose from machaca (shredded dried beef), chicharrón (pork rind), deshebrada (shredded beef), chilorio (seasoned shredded pork), cochinita (slow-roasted pork), eggs in red salsa, pork ribs with nopales (cactus paddles), picadillo (ground beef hash), chorizo, squash with corn, bistec ranchero (beef in tomato and chile sauce) or the excellent beef tongue in green salsa. Their flavor and quality earned the burritos of Los Milagros de Dalila a spot in the Netflix series Taco Chronicles (Las Crónicas del Taco) and in our list of the best taco places in Guadalajara.

A Menu with Something for Everyone

If you want more than burritos, there is also a wide range of dishes, all with the home-cooked touch this place is known for. The menu includes quesadillas, chiles rellenos (stuffed peppers), caldo de res (beef soup), pozole (hominy stew), chilaquiles, tamales and mole.

If you visit during Lent (Cuaresma), you can try dishes they only make in that season, such as shrimp patties in mole, mushroom and squash blossom empanadas, breaded fish fillet and a flavorful caldo michi (a local fish soup).

Pair your meal with a hot café de olla (coffee brewed with cinnamon and piloncillo, an unrefined cane sugar), almond hot chocolate or a cappuccino from their hot drinks bar. Want something more refreshing? They also have sodas, beer and aguas frescas (fruit-flavored water).

To finish on a high note, nothing beats a good dessert. Los Milagros de Dalila offers jericalla, a traditional custard typical of this area, along with rice pudding, caramel flan and cakes. If you visit during Lent, don’t miss the capirotada de picón (a bread pudding made with sweet bread), the best in western Mexico.
